Getting Started & Staying Connected
We’re a new family. Where should we start?
Join BAND, subscribe to the Brigade calendar, and make sure you receive the weekly newsletter. Then try a volunteer shift—it’s an easy way to meet families and learn how everything works.
What is EBSO?
The Emerald Brigade Support Organization is the nonprofit organization supporting Granite Bay High School’s band and color guard programs. Families help make student opportunities possible through volunteering, fundraising, and contributions.
Where should I look for updates?
Use BAND for announcements and reminders, the weekly newsletter for upcoming activities and volunteer opportunities, and the calendar for event dates. Check the latest event instructions before leaving home.
How do I join BAND or receive the newsletter?
Click here to join our BAND group. To receive the weekly newsletter or get help connecting, email communications@gbemeraldbrigade.org.
Can I add the Brigade calendar to my phone?
Yes! Follow the subscription instructions on our Calendar page so schedule changes can appear in your calendar.
Rehearsals, Performances & Pickup
When will my student be ready for pickup?
Allow approximately 15–30 minutes after the posted end time for equipment cleanup. Follow any event-specific dismissal instructions.
What should we expect after a competition?
Returns can be late—even after midnight. Send a charged phone and portable charger, and watch for return-time updates in BAND.
Can families watch rehearsals?
Families are encouraged to watch the final half hour of Monday marching rehearsals.
What if my student has an absence or schedule conflict?
Contact Mrs. Lewis promptly for guidance on attendance and missed work.
Contributions & Fundraising
How do we make a contribution?
Visit Pledge & Donate for contribution information and payment links. Use the form for the appropriate season or program.
Who can help with contribution questions or payment arrangements?
Contact treasurer@gbemeraldbrigade.org so we can help direct your question.
Can our family support the Brigade in other ways?
Absolutely. Volunteer at an event, help with a fundraiser, introduce a potential business sponsor, or share opportunities with friends and family. We appreciate every level of support.
Volunteering & Community
How do I sign up to volunteer?
Start with our Parent Interest & Volunteer Form so we can learn about your interests and availability. Explore the Volunteer page, and watch the newsletter and BAND for specific opportunities.
Do volunteer roles require clearance?
Chaperoning, driving students, and towing trailers require district clearance. Indicate your interest on the Parent Interest & Volunteer Form so we can help you get the appropriate paperwork. Completing the form is the first step; district approval is separate.
Do I need a music background to volunteer?
No. There are opportunities to help with meals, uniforms, props, photography, football games, fundraising, and event setup. Choose something that fits your interests.
What if I have limited time?
Start with a single shift. Some jobs take about an hour; others involve ongoing coordination. Small contributions of time make a difference.
How do I sign up?
Visit the Volunteer page and watch for opportunities in the newsletter and BAND.
Do volunteer roles require clearance?

Instruments & Winter Programs
What if a school-owned instrument needs repair?
Have your student notify the student inventory manager and band director before arranging repairs.
Can students try Winter Percussion or Winter Color Guard?
Students can explore either program, including learning new skills. Ask the director about current participation and scheduling requirements.
Do winter programs have a separate contribution request?
Yes. Winter programs have separate contribution requests. Students may participate regardless of their family’s ability to contribute. Visit Pledge & Donate for available winter program contribution information.

Band App
This year we are using the Band App for both student & parent communications. It is a one-stop-shop for announcements, reminders, and a place for parents & students to be able to ask questions and receive real-time answers, and message each other!

Weekly Newsletter
Band App
EBSO communicates with families through a weekly newsletter sent at the beginning of the week. This is where you will find details on upcoming events, fundraisers, and all volunteer sign-ups will be announced with the sign-up linked. There will not be other emails during the week unless there is something critical that cannot wait until the following week. Please take the time to read the newsletter each week.

The Emerald Brigade has a Facebook page where some pictures and updates will be posted (dine outs, concert ticket information, etc.).
There is also a parent facebook group for both the current and alumni parents.
